Up-close examples of my embroidery! Be aware I am still learning how to perfect my embroidery skills, and there usually are little errors like missed stitches, etc. I will always try to fix them by hand to the best of my ability, but you must be okay with imperfection!
** Note that I HIGHLY prefer putting faces on kigurumis, and you are more likely to be picked for a slot if you let me embroider a face on the hood. **

Basic Kigurumi FitI don't always fit perfectly into my clients' kigurumis; sometimes I'm too tall or too short, too thick or too thin. It may be hard to accurately gauge the shapes of my kigus if you look at all the ones I've made. This slideshow is showcasing a few of the kigus I've made for clients around my body size, and I fit in these best! I think this is more indicative of the intended shape/dimensions/fit that I am going for in my kigurumis.
I draft each kigu pattern custom to every client's measurements they send me, adding a set amount of bagginess to certain areas! |

Kigurumis (or “cosplay pajamas”) originated in Japanese street fashion. They are a baggier style of onesie, with a low crotch. They are designed to be comfort/lounge wear, not full detailed costumes; large features flop over or drag parts of the kigu down due to the stretchy nature of the fleece. If you need your tail or wings to be large and perky, it's possible a kigu is not for you.
I will not be offering a more form fitting/”onesie” fit to the kigus. That requires a more complex pattern that I am not interested in offering/making. I also do not make detachable hoods, and I do not make tail holes to allow for fursuit tails. Check out my Kigu FAQ for more info!
I make my kigurumis with anti-pill fleece from Big Z Fabrics, Joanns, Picotextiles, YourFleece, and FabricEmpire. Some colors only exist in 'blizzard' style fleece (it is not anti-pill) and I will sometimes use this for a project but it is ALWAYS the choice of the commissioner to use this. I sometimes also custom print the fleece with Spoonflower (client's decision!) I like to use unique printed cotton fabric as a liner inside the hood and pockets (if there are pockets). There is a layer of foam interfacing inside the ears to give them structure (except in floppy ears). I sew the tails onto the back in a flat line, either horizontally or vertically depending on the tail. The armpits and crotch seams are reinforced.
Please keep in mind that long hairstyles do not work well on kigurumis. If your character has long hair you will need to be okay with leaving it out, or having it be heavily simplified.
It is fairly possible that the specific color of fleece for your character does not yet exist in any shops. Be prepared for this; we will either need to settle for a slightly different color, or get it custom printed from Spoonflower. Their custom printed fleece is $26 a yard +$1 shipping. It is up to you if it’s worth it!
If your character’s design is complex, the design may be simplified to easily work on a kigurumi. I will work with you on this to make sure we end up with a design both that I am comfortable making, and that you are satisfied with.
If you would like to take my blank kigu template and draw your own kigu design on it, please feel free to! It helps me out A TON!!! I do not have the time to draw kigu designs for every person who gets a quote. I include a free kigu mockup for commissioners only. The blank template is at the bottom of this page.
